Media Products

In this particular task i was asked to find three different media products and comment on how each one is portrayed for its consumer group.

  1. Product1: Sony Ericsson W910i

This phone has been made to easily access music pictures and videos it has a fairly large screen so your pictures are in a higher resolution, it also has a 2mega pixel camera, it also has smart features like a shuffle where you shake the phone and it changes track. all this influences me to believe it is aimed at younger people as a media device more than a phone. My version is in black which then suggests it is aimed at males.

  2. Product2: Stepbrothers

Stepbrothers is a comedy film which you can notice by the cases it is brightly lit and by the facial expressions on the people suggest it. Straight away from the front cover it has a 15 sign which automatically suggests it’s aimed for teenagers and older, it is about two fully grown men still living with there parents and acting like children this lowers the age group that it was aimed for as most adults would find it stupid so it is aimed at teenagers.

  3. Product3: NME

On the front cover the Logo is always the same, it uses minimal colours mainly red and white and it has a festival survey advertised on the front which aims it for people interested in festivals. I believe it is aimed for the younger generation and it has artists such as Vampire Weekend, Dizzee Rascal and Muse. Also it has an article for Spotify which is a free and legal download service, which is also aimed at the younger generation as some of them illegally download there music. however young adults enjoy the music so it would be aimed at all ages to maximise profit.
